There has been confusion about which shoes may be used and which may not during this athletics season. The rules have been changed by the international association World Athletics in the middle of the season.

On distances over 800 meters, the sole may be a maximum of 25 millimeters thick. Charlotta Fougberg had received approval from the international federation via her shoe manufacturer, but despite that she was washed at Slottsskogsvallen.

- All respect for judges and organizers who will ensure that the right shoes are used, but it is frustrating for the practitioners and for Charlotta who is very careful in what she does and does not do, says Wettergren and continues:

- I can swear that 90 percent of the participants did not check if the shoes are approved by the International Athletics Federation.

Is it clumsy to implement rule changes in the middle of the season?

- Yes, in a way I can think it. The shoes are not new, they have been around for a couple of years. It does not make it easier for you to do it in the middle of the season.

How's Charlotta?

- There are no problems. Ullevi won even though she was eliminated and there was no result she needed to qualify. She's the one who's been hit by this right now, but it's like that. It is a development that has taken place and you have to catch up with it. Everything must be clear, then there will be clarity. Someone will have been right and someone wrong in the specific case yesterday. Either the international federation may tear up the approval or confirm that this is the measure that the manufacturer says.

The International Athletics Federation came up with new rules during the season and a review is currently underway where it will be clarified which shoes are allowed and which are not.
