FC Copenhagen and Shakhtar Donetsk qualified for the quarterfinals of the Europa League on Wednesday. The Danes and Ukrainians eliminated Istanbul Basaksehir and VfL Wolfsburg in the eighth finals.
Copenhagen won the return at home against Basaksehir 3-0, after the first leg was lost 1-0 in March. Shakhtar also defeated Wolfsburg 3-0 in the return at home and was also the strongest in the first game (1-2).
Basaksehir's exit means good news for the Dutch coefficient. The champion of the coming season in the Eredivisie will therefore directly qualify for the group stage of the Champions League.
The Europa League will resume from Wednesday. The returns from the eighth finals are still played in the home club's stadium, but the remainder of the tournament will be played in four German cities.
