53-year-old Kazu sets the oldest record J-League Cup starter 5th August 23:05

Tomoyoshi Miura, 53-year-old Kazu, the oldest member of soccer J1 and Yokohama FC, has set the record for the longest time since he entered the J-League Cup Sagan Tosu, one of the three major titles in Japan.

Miura played the captain of Sagan Tosu, the second round of the J.League Cup primary league held in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture on the night of the 5th at the age of 53 years, 5 months and 10 days, and is the oldest in the tournament to date. Long-time participation record has been updated for ages 10 and up.

Miura, who was appointed as the forward on the left side, repeatedly got involved with the ball from the first half, and in the 28th minute, he took the ball from the opponent and made a through pass in front of the goal to create a chance.

Two minutes later, he threw himself into a cross ball from the right side, matched his head, and the goalkeeper caught the shot, but there was a big applause from the crowd.

After this, Miura was replaced midway in the 18th minute of the second half, and Yokohama FC won the match 1-0.

Kazu "responsible for winning"

The 53-year-old Kazu Miura, the oldest player in the league who played for the first time this season and broke the record for the J League Cup's longest appearance, said, “A new coronavirus infection continues to spread and people who are still having a tough time I am really happy to be able to play soccer because there are many, and I think that I have a responsibility to lead the team to victory in the official competition after a long time."

Then, in the first half 30 minutes of the heading shot, he said, "I was trying to be on the top of the cross because I was out two-top. But it was difficult because the ball was in the opposite direction from the goal. I could have taken the shot, so I think it would be the goal if the timing was a little better."
