Jumbo-Visma hopes this week with Dylan Groenewegen to make a bid for victories in the Tour of Poland. The five-stage WorldTour race is the first appearance since the corona crisis for the top sprinter.
Groenewegen forms a team in Poland with fellow countrymen Jos van Emden and Taco van der Hoorn, the Dane Jonas Vingegaard, the Australian Chris Harper, the German Cristoph Pfingsten and the Norwegian Tobias Foss.
"We want to win sprints with Dylan. Jos and Christoph will support him in the sprint. Jonas goes for a high ranking in the general classification," said sports director Frans Maassen in a preview of the Jumbo-Visma site.
"There are a lot of strong climbers at the start, so the competition will be fierce. The third and fourth stages will finish uphill and will determine the classification. The remaining stages will probably end in a bunch sprint."
Before the corona crisis, Groenewegen showed to be in shape with two victories in the Tour of Valencia and one in the Tour of the United Arab Emirates. Last year he recorded the most victories of all riders with fifteen.
In the Tour of Poland, Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) has another strong Dutch sprinter at the start. The first multi-day WorldTour course on the rearranged cycling calendar lasts from Wednesday to Sunday.
