When half the championship in the American Formula 3 series is over, the Swedish 21-year-old Linus Lundqvist leads the series superiorly. With eight straight victories, Lundqvist has scored 150 points - and you could say that he stands with one leg in a promotion to Indy Light, which is waiting for the winner of the American Formula 3 championship.

Indy Light is a springboard for Indycar, where Swedish stars Marcus Ericsson and Felix Rosenqvist drive, as well as the current leader in the Indycar series, Scott Dixon, who previously won Indy Light.

- You get a fully funded control of one million dollars from Honda in Indy Light. It is one of the biggest prizes in motorsport on the junior side. My goal is to drive there next season, says Linus Lundqvist to SVT Sport.

- It is huge and great fun to be in this market and fight for a price like this, and it looks pretty good right now, but it should also be completed, he continues.

Lundqvist's progress is sensational, as he is a newcomer to the championship, and he has received a lot of attention.

- This is the first year that I compete in the USA, and when you come from Europe you are a little unknown when you come to the USA, but I think we have turned some heads over here. For my own part, it is good to come in and make an impression immediately, says Linus Lundqvist who previously won the British Formula 3 championship.

That it went as well as it did for Lundqvist is due to several things.

- If I had the recipe for it, I would sell it expensively. But it is a combination of many parts. It is mainly a team effort. I have a team and engineers who make this possible, plus all the sponsors and investors. So it is not just me, but very many people who make this possible, he says.
