Heracles Almelo strengthened itself on Monday with Marco Rente. The 23-year-old German defender comes over from Borussia Dortmund, where he played in the second team, and signs for three years with an option for a fourth season.

"Heracles Almelo is known as a club where you as a player get time and space to grow," said Rente, who played in Dortmund since 2018, on the Heracles site about his choice.

"Conversations with Tim Gilissen (technical director, ed.) And trainer Frank Wormuth have confirmed this. I want to take the next step in my development here and thus contribute to the performance of the club."

Heracles was looking for a central defender after the departure of Dario van den Buijs (KVC Westerlo) and Maximilian Rossmann (Viktoria Köln), who both returned to their homeland.

Interest is after fourth fullback Noah Fadiga, playmaker Rai Vloet and striker Sinan Bakis the fourth newcomer to Heracles in the run-up to next season. In addition, the hired attacker Delano Burgzorg was definitively recorded.
