In the 85th minute, Malmö FF led 1-0 and looked to salvage a much-anticipated cup title home to Skåne. Ola Toivonen gave the visitors the lead and also had a late chance to equalize the match in extra time but the striker's nod went just outside.
After receiving the silver medal, Ola Toivonen met SVT Sport in the mixed zone.
- Of course it does not feel good. We had control of it for 85 minutes, I think, says an obviously disappointed Toivonen to SVT Sport.
Extra awkward for Malmö was the equalizer goal that came after a decisive mistake from Behrang Safari. The experienced hill slipped and dropped the ball far into his own half of the field and IFK Gothenburg made the most of the situation and Patrik Karlsson Lagemyr was able to send in 1-1.
What is it that makes you lose it?
- We make a mistake when we have the ball and they get a counterattack on it. Then they were a little better in the first part of the extra time and then it doesn't really work out, says Ola Toivonen to SVT Sport.
