The Russian Athletics Federation will be deprived of its membership of the International Athletics Federation World Athletics (WA) unless a total fine of $ 6.31 million (equivalent to SEK 55 million) is paid by August 15.
It announces WA at a press conference on Thursday.
If the money does not arrive in time, the decision to exclude Russia, which has been suspended since 2015 due to state-funded doping, will be hammered through at WA's congress next year. In that case, it would mean that Russian athletes no longer have the opportunity to compete under a neutral flag.
