While the club still mourns the death of Eric de Cromières from cancer, ASM Clermont Auvergne has chosen its new president. This is Jean-Michel Guillon, director of innovation for the Michelin group. Aged 61, the latter was unanimously elected during a board of directors as president and CEO of the club, with immediate assumption of office, said the ASM in a press release.

According to the regional daily La Montagne, Mr. Guillon had been favorite to take over for several weeks, Eric de Cromières himself having taken the time to explain the specifics of his position to him.

Guillon knows the house

Like his predecessor at the head of the former Michelin Sports Association, which became the Montferrand Sports Association, Jean-Michel Guillon has spent most of his career with the tire manufacturer. He started there 37 years ago in the sales department in France, before leading the group's sales in several countries (Brazil, then Sweden and Germany), according to his LinkedIn profile.

The polyglot, who is fluent in German, English, Portuguese and Swedish, also worked for eleven years in the United States. Upon his return to France in 2008, he became Director of Global Personnel, a position he held for almost eleven years, before taking up his post as Director of Innovation and Partnerships.
