• Tour of Burgos. Luxury squad and limited capacity

Cycling has experienced its first shock because of the Covid-19 before even a single pedal stroke was made. The restart of the international calendar in the Vuelta a Burgos has been alarmed by a positive in the Israel Start-Up Nation team, which has forced the Israeli squad to cancel the participation of two of its runners in the race.

The infected corridor is not even in Burgos, but his contact with other team members has set off alarms. The final decision has been that, by prevention, two of Israel's seven cyclists do not start . None of them has, at the moment, been positive in any test.

The Israel team announced late Monday night that its runner Omer Goldstein had tested positive in one of the tests prior to his return to the competition, scheduled for next week on the French Route of Occitania. The Israeli was not in Burgos, but he had been in close contact with his partner Itamar Einhorn, who was in the Castilian city to take the exit on Tuesday.

Israel's immediate reaction was that Eirhorn , asymptomatic, did not take the exit for prevention and that he remained isolated in the hotel room, awaiting the result of a new test, which in principle he will know this afternoon. Along with him, several members of the squad's 'staff' have also been detained, the number of which has not been detailed.

The Covid-19 race commission met on Tuesday after learning about the situation and supported Israel's decision to isolate Einhorn and other personnel who have had close contact with him or with the positive partner. The control of firms has only been attended by five of the seven brokers in Israel , so there are two casualties in their ranks.

The rest of the team, led by the Spanish Dani Navarro , will participate in the race. So will the Nippo-Delko and CCC squads, with which Israel is sharing a hotel during the race. Each team, however, has its own spaces within the accommodation and they do not even share a floor.
