And finally, se queda  ? The soap opera Stéphane Ruffier would be about to end in Saint-Etienne where the dismissal for refusal of training of the goalkeeper of ASSE must end Tuesday, we learned Monday from a source close to the club. The 33-year-old, who should therefore participate in the resumption of training for the Greens on Thursday, is however sanctioned by six days withholding from his salary, which amounts to 2.8 million euros annually.

On July 10, Stéphane Ruffier refused to participate in part of the training when he was summoned with the unsuccessful players to play against Nice the next day at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium. His management immediately laid him off and then summoned him to explain himself, along with a staff representative, as permitted by law.

Now preceded by Jessy Moulin

This sanction "is not particularly heavy, especially since his behavior had already earned him a warning when resuming training, following the long period of confinement," commented the same source. The decision of the management of the Saint-Etienne club was notified to the player on Monday by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt. Once the letter is received, his layoff, which was served on him on July 15 through a bailiff, will end.

On leaving confinement, Claude Puel, the coach of the Greens, had confirmed that the Basque footballer would no longer be the N.1 goalkeeper this season. A position now occupied by Jessy Moulin.

Stéphane Ruffier, who has played 383 matches in the Stéphane jersey since his arrival in summer 2011 from Monaco, is the goalkeeper who has played the most with the Greens in the 1st division, ahead of the legendary Ivan Curkovic.
