On Wednesday, 23-year-old Lindblom signed that a new three-year contract worth SEK 81 million. At the beginning of July, the Swede was treated for an unusual form of skeletal cancer, something that was discovered in December.

Right now Lindblom is visiting the family in Sweden but will go to Toronto where Philadelphia will play its playoff games. He is one of 31 players the club called to the city this week. Philadelphia starts against Boston on August 2.

- We expect that he can play in the near future. We believe that he will soon be part of the team, depending on how he feels. He should be able to help us in the short future, says Vigneault according to Reuters.

Before the cancer treatment, Lindblom was the top scorer in Philadelphia with eleven goals and also seven assists in 30 games.

- I really look forward to being back with the guys in the team soon and again being the professional hockey player that I know I can be, Lindblom has said to the club's website.
