Normally the arena had been filled with 54,000 spectators but due to the corona pandemic no supporters were allowed inside the arena. However, thousands of people gathered on the streets of Liverpool, and outside Anfield, something that the British police in Merseyside had banned before the match.

Police arrested nine people for drunkenness and disorderly conduct during the festivities on the city streets.

Even when Liverpool secured the league victory - the first in 30 years - at the end of June, a lot of people gathered outside the arena. That time, the club reacted strongly.

- Our city is still in a health crisis, and this kind of behavior is unacceptable. There is still a risk of a new wave of infections and we must work together so that we do not destroy everything we have achieved during the closure, the club wrote in a joint statement with the police and local authorities.
