The American women's league, NWSL, will expand to Los Angeles 2022 and "Angel City" as the team is called, jerseys and equipment in black with white print are already made, backed by heavy financiers.

These include 14 former American national team players, including Olympic and World Cup gold medalists Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach. Several Hollywood stars are also behind the investment, Oscar winner Natalie Portman (Black Swan), Uzo Aduba (Orange is the new black), Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) and Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) to name a few.

Daughter Olympia, 2, one of the co-owners

The investment in the team is led by financier Alexis Ohanian and his wife Serena Williams.

- I am proud to be part of this wonderful group that will provide LA with a professional football team. I'm a big fan of the sport, and I think there's a huge potential in women's football that has been absurdly underestimated by too many people for far too long, Alexis Ohanian tweets.

The parents are proud that their daughter, Olympia, two years old, is one of the co-owners.

"Proud owner of Angel City," Olympia wrote on his Twitter account, which was retweeted by father Alexis.
