It was in December that Oskar Lindblom was informed that he had suffered from Ewing's sarcoma, a type of skeletal cancer. Earlier in July, touching photos were shared of Lindblom, who then ended his chemotherapy treatment.

On Wednesday night, Lindblom's NHL club, Philadelphia Flyers, announced that they have signed a new three-year contract with their Swedish star. A contract with a total value of not less than 81 million Swedish kronor.

- I am very happy to be a part of Flyers for another three seasons. The support that the association, the supporters and the entire NHL have given me has been overwhelming. I really look forward to being back with the guys on the team soon and again being the professional hockey player that I know I can be, Lindblom says to the club's website.

On August 1, the NHL playoffs kick off in the round of 16. The Philadelphia Flyers will enter the playoffs only when it's time for the quarterfinals.
