The team competition WTT (World Team Tennis) is one of the few sports that started during the corona pandemic, also with a certain audience (500 spectators in a stadium that takes 2500).

To obtain a permit to gamble, a strict health protocol was drawn up, in which the participants in the tournament pledged to stay in the state of West Virginia for the entire three-week-long tournament.

"We have suspended Danielle Collins for the remainder of the 2020 World Team Tennis after she violated the covid-19 protocol and left the state," race director Carlos Silva told Reuters.

Collins has criticized Djokovic

There was no ambiguity in the regulations.

- We have told the players several times what applies to protect players, coaches and organizers, which is of utmost importance for WTT, Silva continues.

Collins has been outspoken in the debate over sports and corona and, among other things, criticized world setter Novak Djokovic for saying that it is "impossible" to play the US Open under such a strict health protocol as is proposed.

The 26-year-old Collins went to the semi-finals of the Australian Open last year and is currently 51st in the rankings, which has been frozen since March.
