Max Verstappen finished seventh on Saturday in qualifying for the Grand Prix of Hungary. Lewis Hamilton starts from pole position on Sunday.
Both Verstappen and his teammate Alexander Albon said during the qualification about the on-board radio that they were dissatisfied with the tuning of the car. The Thai only qualified as thirteenth.
Verstappen managed to reach Q3, but he admitted a second to the Mercedes duo Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. Racing Point Lance Stroll and Sergio Pérez and Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc were also faster than the Limburger.
Seventh place is a hard one for Verstappen, who did not start the season very well with a dropout and third place in Austria. Last year he took pole position at the Hungaroring.
In Q1, George Russell and Nicholas surprised Latifi by joining the top fifteen. It was the first time since the 2018 GP of Italy that both Williams cars survived the first qualifying round. Latifi starts fifteenth on Sunday and Russell twelfth.
