We are currently seeing football seasons out in Europe suffering towards the end without people in the stands.

If we focus on the Premier League, there are a couple of rounds left before the season is over. A season that after the break due to the corona pandemic, has been played in front of empty stands.

The break for next season in the Premier League will be shorter than usual and start already in the autumn - this perhaps with supporters in the stands, which Prime Minister Boris Johnson is now opening for.

- We will test larger gatherings in arenas on a few occasions, to look at the possibilities of opening them in the autumn, Johnson says.

Tests on three different sports

He also says that from October they hope to have the audience back in the arenas.

- These changes must of course be implemented in a "covid-safe" way, with the proviso that the tests we will do in some arenas must give us positive answers, Johnson says.

The test projects will be carried out on two cricket matches, the World Snooker Championship and the horse racing festival "The Goodwood".

"Although it will take a while before the arenas can be filled to their full activity, this is an important step in the right direction," says Johnson.

In order for the supporters to return to the arenas, the government has presented some guidelines that must be followed:

• You must not go to the arena if you have any symptoms of illness.

• Social distance must be followed at all seats in the arena.

Screening procedures are being considered for use at all entrances to the arena.

• Additional hygiene facilities must be set up at all entrances and exits.

More than 45,000 people in the UK have died from the coronavirus in the UK and over 292,000 cases of the virus have been confirmed.
