Williams confirmed on Thursday ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix that George Russell and Nicholas Latifi will remain as drivers next season. In any case, Russell was under contract with the British team until the end of 2021 and Latifi's commitment will be extended by one year.

Although Russell has an ongoing contract with Williams, rumors of a move to Mercedes have been mounting lately. The 22-year-old Briton is part of the German team's training program and would be a candidate to succeed Valtteri Bottas after this season.

However, it seems that the Finn is just staying with Mercedes and so now Russell confirms 'just' respecting his contract with Williams. The former Formula 2 driver is in his second season in the motorsport royal, after making his debut last year.

So next season he will form another duo with Latifi. The Canadian, last year's competitor of Nyck de Vries in Formula 2, is in his first season as a regular driver in Formula 1.

Just like in 2019, Williams seems to have been sentenced to a rearguard. The British team, like Haas, did not score points for the World Cup in the first two races. The season will continue next weekend with the Grand Prix of Hungary.
