She says that she is not giving up skiing for good, but that the new branch of ski alpinism is attracting more right now.

- I think ski alpinism is very fun so I will run it this winter.

She made her debut in ski alpinism last winter and came fifth in the first World Cup competition in December. The form of competition is that you go up the slopes with climbing skins under the skis, or with the skis on your back where it is very steep.

In ski orienteering, just like in orienteering, she is the sport's big star with ten World Cup golds on her merit list.

Builds foundation for 2021

Given the rest period after heart problems and the corona pandemic, which may have been connected, it became natural that she spends the summer on basic training.

- Since we have no competitions, I have been able to train more. I run four high-intensity sessions a week, either intervals or training competitions. Around those workouts, there is quite a lot of length and long workouts of three to four hours, says Alexandersson.

- Right now it is mostly about building as good a foundation as possible. Next season, there will hopefully be quite a few competitions and quite varied competitions, so it is important to build a good foundation this year so you become strong in many different things. Both for sprint and for long distance and different terrain types and so on.

This year's sprint WC will be moved to next year and integrated with the "forest" WC in the Czech Republic. It has also been decided that the sprint European Championships will be held in connection with the start of the World Cup in Switzerland.
