Emil Forsberg has previously commented on his thoughts on the future. This is what he said to SVT Sport in April earlier this year:

- I have always been open about wanting to try something new. But at the same time I love Leipzig, the club and the supporters. I also feel one with the club, and we have an open dialogue.

But the question is whether that openness has taken a new turn, whether we should listen to sports director Krösche and his latest statements.

- He was unlucky with illnesses during the corona break and afterwards. Emil is a fantastic football player and will definitely help us. Especially since we will be playing matches every third day next season. He has a big role in our plans, he tells Bild.

The German newspaper calls the message a "transition ban".

"He is not happy"

Earlier in June, the club's coach, Julian Nagelsmann, confirmed that Forsberg had not been happy with the playing time during the season.

- He is not happy with his playing time, but behaves very professionally. There have been periods earlier in the season when he has been angrier than he is now, he said then, according to the site RB Live.

Forsberg has long been surrounded by rumors and media reports have placed him in clubs such as Milan and Arsenal.

His contract expires in June 2022.
