Washington Mystics' Elena Delle Donne was named the WNBA's Most Valuable Player last season.
In corona times, she has applied to the WNBA league to give up next season because she suffers from a chronic lymphoma.

However, this possibility has been denied, as lymphatic disease is not included in the list of diseases that are considered to be in the risk group. Three doctors rejected her application to be released from gambling.
- The decision hurts a lot, says Elena Delle Donne, who believes that she would risk becoming seriously ill if she was affected by the coronavirus.

- My body does not handle viruses like other people, so when covid came I thought they would consider me to be in the high-risk group, continues in an article in the American Players Tribute.

Elena Delle Donne believes she has two choices.
- Either I risk my life, or I lose my salary. Honestly? It hurts. I do not have an NBA player's salary and do not want to go to war with my own league. And I can not appeal, she says.
The WNBA will play its entire 2020 season in Florida, starting July 25.
