The Sapporo Marathon, which was canceled due to the effect of the new coronavirus, will be held online instead of measuring the distance and time run using the smartphone application.

The Sapporo Marathon is an annual competition where about 10,000 people participate every October to enjoy running while feeling the arrival of autumn in the city, but this event has been decided to be canceled due to the influence of the new coronavirus.

Instead, the event's executive committee has announced that it will hold an online marathon event using the smartphone app.

For online competitions, download the dedicated app to your smartphone and use the GPS function to measure the distance and time you have run.

The runners will be awarded the participation prize when they run in any place at any time from October 7th to 13th during the tournament period and complete the distance according to their eyes.

The Sapporo Marathon Executive Committee states, "By participating in online marathon competitions, we hope that this will help improve runners' motivation."
