- Álex Márquez. "They left him on the ground before running"
The Honda HRC team confirmed the signing of Pol Espargaró , from KTM, to partner with Marc Márquez from 2021. The Barcelona driver, 29, will sign two seasons with the factory team of the Japanese brand, where he will replace Alex Márquez .
The announcement, through an official statement, supposes the confirmation of a news that was considered safe in the paddock. Last June, KTM omitted Espargaró from its driver roster for 2021, where it did include Italian Danilo Petrucci and Portuguese Miguel Oliveira .
Alex Márquez, who has not yet made his debut with Honda in the 2020 World Cup, will play next season, with official material, with the LCR team, where he will take over from British Cal Crutchlow .
Starting next season, Espargaró will be at the controls of an RC213V to form a fearsome pair with Márquez. Since his arrival at the World Cup in 2006, the Granollers rider has played 104 grand prizes. In 2013 he was proclaimed Moto2 world champion, coinciding with the promotion of Márquez to MotoGP. He also had options to win the 125cc title in 2010 and the Moto2 title in 2012, although on both occasions he had to give in to the Cervera rider.
