The final phase of the Champions League in Lisbon is played behind closed doors, UEFA decided on Thursday. That means that there is no public welcome in the quarterfinals, semifinals and the finals.
Earlier this week, it was announced that the remaining eighth finals of the Champions League will be played in the home of the home club. There are also no spectators at those duels, which take place on August 7 and 8.
With Juventus-Olympique Lyon, Manchester City-Real Madrid, FC Barcelona-Napoli and Bayern Munich-Chelsea, four returns are yet to be played in the eighth finals. RB Leipzig, Atlético Madrid, Atalanta Bergamo and Paris Saint-Germain have already qualified for the quarterfinals.
The final stage of the Champions League will be completed in tournament form at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa of Benfica and the Estádio José Alvalade of Sporting CP. Both the quarterfinals (August 12-15) and the semifinals (August 18-19) are about one game instead of two. The final is on August 23.
The final stages of the Europa League and the Champions League for women are also played without an audience. The quarter-finals (August 10 and 11), the semi-finals (August 16 and 17) and the final (August 21) take place on German soil: in Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen and Cologne. In the latter place, the final is played.
The draw for the final phase of the Champions League and the Europa League will take place on Friday. This takes place from 12 noon in Nyon, Switzerland.
