The organization of the Ryder Cup announced that the next edition of the tournament, which will host the American field of Whistling Straits (Wisconsin), is postponed for one year due to the coronavirus and will be held between September 21 and 26, 2021.
Due to these postponements, the following Ryder Cup editions also go through odd years: 2023 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club (Rome), 2025 at Bethpage Black (Farmingdale, New York), 2027 at Adare Manor (Limerick, Ireland) , 2029 at Hazeltine National Golf Club (Chaska, Minnesota), 2031 in Europe (to be determined), 2033 at The Olympic Club (San Francisco), 2035 in Europe (to be determined) and 2037 at the Congressional Country Club (Bethesda, Maryland) .
Likewise, the Presidents Cup is also postponed for twelve months and will be played between September 19 and 25, 2022 at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte (North Carolina).
"Medical experts and public authorities in Wisconsin could not give us the certainty that it would be possible to hold a responsible event with thousands of spectators in September. The captains of the two teams, the American Steve Stricker and the Irish Padraig Harrington , also agreed with this postponement. The Ryder Cup has faced the combined teams of the United States and Europe since 1917 and the European team took the last edition, played in Paris in 2018.
