Former Bayern Munich doctor, historic doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wolfarth, revealed that his strained relationship with Spaniard Josep Guardiola, the former coach of the club, prompted him to resign after decades spent in the medical system.
The two sides did not hide their bad relationship during the Spanish assumption of the technical management of the club between 2013 and 2016, before the resignation of Muller-Fulfarth in 2015, and his return after two years after the departure of Guardiola.
The famous doctor said in an interview with "BR 24": "I could not bear the fact that a young coach (Guardiola is currently 49 years old), who was very successful and perhaps one of the very big names, was interfering in medical matters and knew about everything more than me".
The differences between Muller-Fulfarth (77 years old) and the current coach of Manchester City began in April 2015, when the former claimed that he had been subjected to a personal insult by the second after losing to Porto in the Champions League 1-3, prompting the doctor to resign after 38 years In office.
Muller-Fulfarth returned to Bayern in 2017, before stepping down last month.
The veteran doctor described his time in Bayern under the supervision of Guardiola as a "black page", despite the leadership of the former coach of Barcelona, his German team to the title of the Bundesliga in the three seasons he spent with him.
The doctor confirmed that the page of the dispute had been closed permanently, explaining, "We have met since then and talked about these matters." And he stressed that the matter "is now over."
Muller-Vulfarth previously launched an attack on Guardiola in his autobiography, considering that he "lacked self-confidence."
He said, "The media often describe Guardiola as an innovative coach, indeed a revolutionary, but in Bayern Munich he turned the clock back."
The doctor revealed: "While we were doing the treatment of the players, I was attacked in front of the entire team and charged with numerous injuries suffered by the team," adding, "He considered me responsible for the physical condition of the players and therefore for the loss" against Porto.
Muller-Fulfarth is considered one of the most famous athletic doctors in the world, and he supervised the treatment of stars, most notably the former Jamaican runner Osain Bolt, if the record for the 100 and 200 m races.
Muller-Wolfarth was in the medical team for the German national team between 1995 and 2018 World Cup in Russia, a period during which the Mensheviks won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
