The Saudi Football Association has decided to prevent its clubs from negotiating or concluding new contracts with any foreign player who refuses to extend his contract until the new date of the end of the current season of the domestic league.

According to the official account of the newspaper, Al-Riyadiah, on Twitter, the Saudi Football Association’s decision stipulates that “If the contract expiration date is on the original expiry date of the 2019-2020 season, the validity of this contract will be extended until the new end date of the season.”

"If the contract start date coincides with the original start date of the 2020-2021 season, the start date is postponed until the new date of the start of the 2021 season," the newspaper added.

A number of foreign players refused to extend their contracts until the end of the season, demanding that a new contract be signed for at least a year, led by Australian Bradley Jones goalkeeper, Al-Nasr.

The International Football Association (FIFA) granted the clubs the right to extend contracts ending until the end of the current season without committing to a specific date, provided that all parties agreed.

The Saudi Football Federation announced the resumption of competitions for the current season of the Saudi Professional League on the fourth of August and will continue until the ninth of September, after a long period of interruption due to the emerging crisis of the Corona virus.
