American tennis player Francis Tiavoy announced today that he has contracted the emerging Coronavirus and is entering medical isolation.

"Unfortunately, it was a positive analysis result of Corona virus on Friday evening, and I had to withdraw from the Atlanta Championship this week," said Tiafoy, ranked 81 in the world via Twitter.

"Over the past two months I have been training in Florida and it came as a negative analysis result one week ago."

"I am scheduled to undergo another test early next week, but I have already started the isolation protocol at the recommendation of doctors here in Atlanta, after I was very excited to return here, health and safety for everyone comes first," he said.

Tiafoy defeated fellow countryman Sam Querre on Friday in the Atlanta Show Championship, which continues until Sunday, with the attendance of the fans, but the championship will continue as scheduled.

Last month, four players were declared infected with the Coruna virus in the Adria show championship organized by world number one Novak Djokovic, who was among those infected.

Official tennis tournaments have been suspended since last March, with activity to resume in mid-August, knowing that the US Open will begin on August 31 without fans.
