In order for antidoping work to be conducted, athletes must notify where they will be during certain times so that tests can be performed. Wilson Kipsang, 38, failed four times during the period from April 2018 to May 2019 and therefore he is now suspended for four years.

One of the tests he missed would have been on May 17, 2019 and the miss he explained with having been in a traffic accident where a truck had overturned. He also submitted photo evidence of what happened, but the problem was that that photo was taken on August 19 of that year.

"Affecting everyone"

Kipsang has been temporarily suspended since January this year.

- It affects everyone. It's demoralizing for us. Why do they keep doing this? Especially elite athletes who should be role models, says Kenyan Athletics Association president Jackson Tuwei, according to Reuters.

Kenyan's foremost achievement beyond the previous world record is a bronze from the London Olympics 2012. Now all his results are disqualified from April 12, 2019 until January 10 this year. Kipsang can appeal to the sports arbitration court Cas.
