Anicet Mbida, on Wednesday on Europe 1, returned to an innovation that could concern all our future emails: an automatic politeness corrector.

This morning, better than the spell checker: a tool that modifies the text of our emails, so that they are more polite and more pleasant. It is true that with emails, we make much less effort: "Send me the ASAP file! Regards". Not even hello or thank you.

With this tool, when you press "send", it will check your spelling and grammar. But in addition, it will suggest new turns of phrase. For example, for "Send me the ASAP file", he will propose: "Could you send me the asap file? Please". Then he will add "Hello" and "Thank you in advance".

In principle, this tool can even include more complex sentences. He will, for example, change certain formulations to make them less direct. If we write: "You should do that!", He will suggest "What if we did that?".

He also claims to manage nuances of language and cultural differences. Obviously, it removes all the terms that could offend and all the insults. There is even an option to be more inclusive in the choice of words.

The program will be presented Monday at a conference on computer language processing. Because it is, above all, a research tool. It was developed by a team from Carnegie Mellon University in the United States.

The work is monitored by both Google and Microsoft. Because they would like to integrate them into Gmail and Outlook. Which would be a good thing. We all prefer to receive kind and pleasant emails. Why not help us send them.
