- It feels very nice to be on target with the recruitment and, above all, to inform the staff and the entire Hockey Sweden who will take up the post of Secretary-General this fall. It is a very important role for the office and the journey that we will face in the coming years, says Hockey Association chairman Anders Larsson to SVT Sport.

What are the characteristics of Johan Stark?

- Important to emphasize is that he is a genuine sports leader who has worked in Brynäs as club director and now most recently as secretary general of the basketball association. It is a combination of the merits as well as his personal drive and commitment that made us stuck for Johan Stark.

Turbulent time

The Swedish Ice Hockey Association has a turbulent time behind it, which ended with Tommy Boustedt announcing that he will leave the role of Secretary-General this fall.

- There has been a lot and a turbulent time. But many of the issues have now been resolved or are being resolved with the current management and the local trade union club. It is clear that when Johan Stark now takes office he will put his mark on the work, and it feels very important.

Given the turbulent time that has been. How is the Swedish ice hockey association doing right now?

- Given that the spring season was closed down due to the corona virus and the turbulence that has been around the office, it has taken on many employees. But Swedish ice hockey is basically doing well. Just look at the audience figures during the Euro hockey tour in the Globe and in the SHL. But it is clear that spring has taken a lot of energy.

What does it look like financially for the Swedish Ice Hockey Association?

- We look at it regularly right now and look at different scenarios. But thankfully, we have decent equity in terms of turnover. Economically, it looks stable but before the autumn we have a large portion of humility, says Anders Larsson.
