Rikard Grönborg left the role as the national team captain for Tre Kronor after two World Cup golds in three years and was then clear that he was aiming to continue his coaching career in the NHL. When nothing really came from the clubs in the US and Canada, he chose instead to sign two-year contracts with the big club ZSC Lions from Zurich.
