Bad news for French clubs. Fifa sent a letter to the Professional Football League on Tuesday to warn it that the summer market cannot exceed twelve weeks. If France, which opened its transfer window on June 8, intends to align itself with its neighbors like Spain, Germany or Italy, which postponed their closure to October 5, it will therefore have to put its transfer window between parentheses for most of July.

Reopening around August 10

The last update, Tuesday, of the document of Fifa listing the dates of the summer transfer window in Europe, confirms that France decided to stop its transfer window on July 9. She plans to reopen it "around August 10", according to a source close to a Ligue 1 club, which still regrets "losing three weeks" in the case.

He is not the only one. The Team reports this Wednesday that several presidents deplored a lack of rigor on the part of the executive director general of the LFP Didier Quillot, who had assured them that the opening of the market in June would have no impact. They evoke "unacceptable" and "very serious" consequences.

Even if they can sign players during this period, they will not have their license until August 10, which poses - among other things - insurance problems. Meanwhile, European competitors will have free rein.

For comparison, the German Football Federation (DFB) has decided that its transfer window will be open for only one day on July 1 (to record transfers already announced), then again from July 15 until October 5.
