Jasper Cillessen has to deal with a new trainer at Valencia. The orange city club sacked Albert Celades on Monday due to disappointing results.

The 44-year-old Celades had only been employed by Valencia since September 11 last year, after Spaniard had succeeded his countryman Marcelino. He then signed a contract until mid-2021.

Under Celades' leadership, Valencia performed poorly after the corona crisis. Three of the five games were lost and only one victory was recorded.

Valencia is the current number eight of La Liga, which means that a ticket for the Champions League is far away. Last season, Valencia finished fourth behind FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid.

Cillessen lost his starting spot under Celades this season, partly due to an injury, but the goalkeeper of the Dutch team had his place in the team back quickly.

Valencia will be led for the rest of the season by assistant coach Voro González and in the meantime will look for a trainer for the new season.
