After it became clear that the club won the English football league on Thursday night, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp went out and appealed to the supporters:

- This is for you. I hope you stay home. Go outside the house if you want, but not more, he said in Sky Sports broadcast.

But the fans who have been waiting for a league title for 30 years did not listen to his words.

Thousands of supporters went out on Liverpool's streets and into the home arena of Anfield to celebrate. Despite the ongoing corona pandemic which has so far claimed more than 40,000 lives in England.

Now the club goes out in a press release and condemns the actions of the fans.

"Thousands of people gathered at Pier Head on Friday, June 26, and some chose to ignore prevailing social distance guidelines and jeopardized public safety," Liverpool writes.

"Our city is still in a health crisis and this type of behavior is completely unacceptable."

The Premier League club promises to celebrate with the fans whenever possible.

“When it is safe to do so, together we will arrange a victory parade so that everyone can gather and celebrate. Until then, the safety of our city and our people is the most important thing ”.
