The owner of UD Almería, Turki Al-Sheikh , has decided to fire his coach, José María Gutiérrez , just a few hours after the defeat against Alcorcón, the second consecutive one at his stadium, which takes the team five points away from the positions of promotion to First.

The Madrid coach, 43, leaves Almería in third position, one position lower than the one he occupied when he took office last November. Since the restart of the competition, he lost to Alcorcón (0-1) and Las Palmas (0-1) at the Estadio de los Juegos del Mediterráneo the same points he had conquered in Albacete (0-1) and Zaragoza (0-2 ).

After the setback against the pottery team, the only one of the undefeated category at home, Gutiérrez was still optimistic. "Doing things as the team has done today is very difficult for us to lose," he predicted.

Debacle in the Cup

During his 21 league commitments, Gutiérrez added nine wins, five draws and seven defeats. Likewise, in the Copa del Rey he suffered a disappointing elimination against UD Tamaraceite, from the Third Division (3-2).

The challenge for Al-Sheikh will be to find a relay to take the reins in these remaining seven days. In any case, it will be the fourth coach of the season at UD Almería, after Óscar Fernández , Pedro Emanuel and Gutiérrez himself.
