Borussia Dortmund will still be coached by Lucien Favre next season, Michael Zorc, sporting director of the club, who will once again try to break the hegemony of Bayern Munich over the Bundesliga, confirmed on Thursday. “We will have the same team of coaches for the next season. We want to go on the attack, "said Zorc before Dortmund's last home game this season against Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Lucien Favre had one year left on contract, but speculation about his departure has increased as Dortmund prepare to finish second in the Bundesliga behind Bayern for the second consecutive year. Under Favre's orders, BVB Dortmund ceded first place to the Bavarians for nine points in 2018-19 and is currently ten points behind Bayern as the last day of this weekend approaches.

No extension in sight for the moment

Bayern Munich have won their last 15 games, including a 1-0 championship victory in Dortmund in late May which effectively decided on the title race. Michael Zorc, 57, who has made 468 appearances under the colors of Dortmund during his career, meanwhile extended his sports director contract until 2022.

However, he has ruled out extending Favre's contract beyond next year. "We have a great relationship of trust internally and we will have discussions in due course," concluded Zorc when asked about the extension of the Swiss coach.
