FIFA announced on the 25th that Australia and New Zealand won the right to host the 2023 Women's World Cup.

In the vote on the right to host the 2023 Women's World Cup on that day, Australia and New Zealand, as joint sponsors, won 22 of the 35 valid votes in the first round of voting. Colombia, another bidding country, won 13 votes. Brazil and Japan were originally sponsors of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, but both countries announced their withdrawal on the eve of the vote.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup will be expanded to 32 teams. At the same time, this is the first time that the Women’s World Cup will be jointly hosted by two countries that belong to different continent football associations (Australia belongs to AFC and New Zealand belongs to Oceania Football Association).
