  • It's time for the Girondins de Bordeaux to resume this Monday at the Château du Haillan.
  • Covid-19 tests on the program before returning to training in small groups.
  • The preparation should be punctuated by one or two courses and several friendly matches in the region.

Finally ! This Monday morning, the Girondins de Bordeaux players will find for the first time since March 13 their locker room at the Château du Haillan, the club's training center. More than three months since they had set foot there due to the Covid-19 epidemic. An eternity for them. A first as well since in normal times, they never leave it for more than a month or even a month and a half during the off-season.

So despite the health context, they will surely all be very happy with this recovery like Rémi Oudin: “I have no fear and I especially look forward to seeing everyone again after this long period. It is good to see that life is resuming a little bit even if we will still have to respect the barrier gestures for a while ». The wearing of the compulsory mask will, for example, be compulsory on the premises of the training center for the midfielder and his teammates.

PCR and serological tests for a stable workforce

This first day promises to be very special for the players of Paulo Sousa. The Portuguese coach and his staff will welcome them in groups of eight. Like everyone around the professional team, players will undergo two tests: a PCR test to find out if they are positive or negative for Covid-19 and a serological test to find out if they have caught it in recent months. They will also pass other more familiar tests like at the start of each season, but they will be more advanced in terms of heart.

Be ready for the next season 💪🏽👊🏽

As of Tuesday, the professional workforce will return to the fields in a small group after three weeks of individual and distance training: “Paulo (Sousa) did an excellent job with the help of his staff so that the players were ready for this recovery . Very good job, ”slips a Bordeaux manager at 20 Minutes. The group will be almost the same as before the confinement since the players' contracts go until June 30, 2020. While Paul Bernardoni signed up with Angers at the start of the month and Yassine Benrahou will join Nîmes in the coming days, the other loaned players (Boupendza, Mandanda, Nilor, Lauray, Mendy, Diarra and Carrique) will not return until July 1 at Haillan.

For his part, Youssef Aït-Bennasser, loaned by Monaco to Bordeaux this season, will not return to Gironde for a few days according to our information. Pablo, injured (rupture of the cruciate ligaments), continues for the moment his rehabilitation in Brazil. Finally, some young people will resume this Monday with the professional staff: Malbec, Lima Semedo, Sow, Zerkane, Delaurier-Chaubet, Bakwa, Mara and Traoré.

One or two courses, five / six friendlies

The Girondins de Bordeaux will continue in nine weeks of preparation before the resumption of Ligue 1, scheduled for the weekend of August 22-23. All this in a very particular context due to the vagueness around the future of the club. Paulo Sousa will have to deal with: “He is concerned about the situation. He knows exactly what to do in his job but the club gives him little visibility. It's difficult to have a goal without knowing the club's means, ”explains one of his relatives. Followed closely by several clubs and national teams, the Portuguese has so far rejected all approaches.
