The first match in the Premier League reboot, between Aston Villa and Sheffield United, ended 0-0. But the fact is that Sheffield United should have had a goal.

However, Oliver Norwood's free kick 42 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target.

The cameras were hidden

After the match, however, an apology came from the company Hawk-Eye (which manufactures the target cameras and its technology), admitting that the ball was inside the line. The company then claimed that it was the first time such an error occurred during the over 9,000 matches used by the system.

The mistake was explained by the fact that all seven cameras that monitored the goal were obscured by either the goalkeeper, a defender or one of the bars.

"Hawk-Eye asks unreservedly for the Premier League, Sheffield United and everyone else affected by this incident," they wrote in the statement, according to several British media.
