It is the member of the Olympic organization Haruyuki Takahashi who believes that one should consider postponing the Olympics further if the world situation does not allow the games to be held in the summer of 2021. Takahashi says it would mean too much financial slack to set the Olympics.

- Japan and the world economy will be hit hard, he says, adding:

- But the main priority is to make an effort to keep the OS 2021. But if that is not possible, we need to take steps to be able to hold the Olympics later.

The Olympics were moved forward

The Olympics would have really started at the end of next month, but in March it was decided to postpone the championship for a year due to the corona virus. In late May, International Olympic Committee (IOC) chairman Tomas Bach said in an interview with the BBC that the Olympics must be held next summer. According to Olympic Director Yoshiro Mori, the issue of cancellation has not been discussed with the IOC.
