The 16-year-old French climber Luce Douady died on Monday as a result of a fall of more than 100 meters suffered while doing a relatively simple section with friends in the Le Luisset - Saint Pancrasse area, in the Chartreuse massif, near his house in Grenoble.

Douady had won the Junior Boulder World Cup last year and was third in difficulty, a specialty in which he had also been bronze in the European. In addition, despite her youth, she already competed on the absolute circuit and was considered one of the great climbers of the future.

His ability was unquestionable because a few weeks ago, shortly after finishing the confinement in his country, France, he completed his first 8b + track.

"Luce was a very promising young athlete from the French climbing team. At just 16 years old, she had the whole future ahead of her. This terrible news has hit her climbing companions, her coaches and her entire club, Chambéry Escalada. Today The whole federation is in mourning. We think of his family and we put ourselves at his disposal, "lamented Pierre-Nenri Paillason , technical director of the French Federation of Mountain and Climbing (FFME).
