For the first time since the World Cup in Doha, it was competition day for Vanessa Kamga on Sunday. The 21-year-old discus thrower showed that she was not rusty when she became the second Swede ever over 60 meters.

- It's incredibly cool. There is a lot of work behind throwing 60 meters. It is a huge milestone and only a Swedish girl has done it before. That should not be taken lightly. It feels as good as anything, she tells SVT Sport.

- I hadn't thought much about the competition. I mostly thought I would deliver six throws in the middle. Then it even became a giant throw, which was one meter more than my previous personal best.

Aim set at the Olympics

For Kamga, there is a clear goal that she is working to achieve. A trip to Tokyo next summer to represent Sweden in the Olympics. But then she needs to throw even longer.

- It's like 63 meters. The next goal is to be so good next season that you are there and fighting for the places.

In other words, the fact that the Olympics were postponed for one year did not affect her negatively.

- For me, it's no problem. I am so young and eager to throw far. Another year for me to train is just positive.

This season will not be as competitive as regular summers. During the first part of the summer she only has one more competition. This is the Bottnarydskast in two weeks - the same competition that Daniel Ståhl beat the Swedish record last year. If Kamga can deliver like Ståhl did, it remains to be seen.
