Dominic Thiem and Filip Krajinovic will fight for the title in the friendly tournament in Belgrade, the first stop of the Adria Tour organized by Novak Djokovic, played before 4,000 spectators in the stands. The world number 1 beat Alexander Zverev (4-0, 1-4, 4-2) on Sunday but failed to qualify for the final, due to his previous loss to compatriot Krajinovic.

"I feel overwhelmed by emotion, because all this reminds me of childhood," said Djokovic, on the verge of tears, after his victory against the German. "These are emotional days and I would like to thank everyone who made this possible," continued the local idol, also happy that his friend Krajinovic defends Serbian honor in a tournament played under the Round Robin system, with two groups of four tennis players, best of two sets with four games each.

The breach of social distancing sparked numerous criticisms, before which Djokovic came out. In his opinion, his country had obtained a "rather decent success" in the fight against the pandemic, with 24,000 positive cases and less than 800 deaths among 22 million inhabitants.

The organizers, following the rules of the lack of confidence in Serbia, sold 1,000 tickets at the beginning, sold out in just seven minutes. Later, after the application of some relief measures, 2,000 more places were opened for the sponsors. The proceeds will go to humanitarian organizations.

The Adria Tour will continue on June 20 and 21 in the Croatian city of Zadar, before traveling on July 3 and 4 to Banja Luka (Bosnia) on July 3 and 4. A day later the final round is planned in Sarajevo. The previous stopover in Montenegro was canceled, as the Montenegrin authorities still restrict entry to anyone traveling from Serbia.
