In Rolfö's place, young Polish Ewa Pajor stepped forward with two important goals for the green-clad league leaders.

Fridolina Rolfö looked to be a big part of Wolfsburg's title ambitions when the German league started again in early June. The match against Frankfurt allowed Rolfö to shine well with a goal and two assists in the 5-1 win. During the last training before the last league match against Bielefeld, Rolfö sustained a muscle injury in the wad and thus missed the day's match and probably also the next league match against Freiburg.

Strong introduction

In today's match against Essen, Wolfsburg was able to put considerable pressure on the title rivals Bayern Munich. In the event of a win, a win from the competitors against FF Jena tonight was required to keep the title race alive.

And the motivation was clear right from the kick off. Wolfsburg flew forward and put great pressure on the Essen goal. But talented 19-year-old Kim Sindermann in the Essen box was initially a pallet. 1-0, however, came after half an hour, a beautiful attack that ended with a shot with the control of the defender where Sindermann was without a chance. Ewa Pajor, registered in the match record as a back, in fact more of an offensive midfielder, stood for the management goal.

25th goal for Harder

2-0 was a delicacy of the Danish offensive site Pernille Harder. After getting stuck on the offensive half, Harder had a difficult post at the waist to handle. No problems for the shooter queen who, with the weaker left foot control, angled the two into the far burglar just before the break. Her 25th goal this season and Harder looks to conveniently bring home the shooter title for the season.

One minute into the second half, Ewa Pajor would puncture the match. After a ball win high up the offensive half, Pajor got the ball just outside the penalty area. A clean-cut finish in the lower corner later it was 3-0 in Essen. Now it will be a minor miracle for Bayern Munich to reverse the trend and pick up the takeover against Wolfsburg in the league.

Swedish goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl leaves Wolfsburg on June 30 and saw the match from the bench. The last Swedish in Wolfsburg, Madelen Janogy is still on a break from football after sleep problems and mental illness.
