Football fans have been waiting three months for such a program. Since the start of the Covid-19 health crisis, football in Europe - and around the world - had suspended its activities. An interruption which the Bundesliga, on May 16, had put an end to by sending its stars back to the lawns.

Three weeks later, normalization is accelerating, still behind closed doors. In the wake of the Portuguese championship, which resumed its rights on June 3, it is the turn of the prestigious Liga to return to the calendar on Thursday, with a Sevillian derby which, despite the absence of public and draconian sanitary measures in place, will not be devoid of interest. An aperitif, before Barça's resumption against Mallorca on Friday, Real, against Elche on Saturday, and especially the poster of the weekend, between Athletic Bilbao and Atlético de Madrid.

This program will be the very first salvo of a real marathon for the Spanish championship, which plans to conclude its season on July 19: 110 matches in six weeks, almost unheard of.

Italian classics

If the return of La Liga is the big piece of this football weekend, the Italian "calcio" also offers itself a beautiful window of exposure, one week before the resumption of Serie A, fixed at 20 June. Two Italian Cup semi-finals on the program: Juventus Turin - AC Milan (0-0 first leg) and Naples - Inter (1-0 for Napoli in Milan, first leg), posters that pit four of the top seven teams of the season.

A little further north, the Bundesliga is approaching its conclusion, with four days to go. Bayern Munich, leader, receives Borussia Mönchengladbach, fourth, in a duel that could bring the Bavarian club a new title, as of Saturday. And even constitute a new coronation, if a possible success is associated with a defeat of Dortmund at the same time.

This new triumph, the 30th in the history of Bayern, could thus be ratified before the normalization of the other major European championships: the La Liga, already revived, the Premier League, which resumes on June 17, and Serie A, three days more late. Under the gaze of a Ligue 1 which has already crowned Paris-Saint-Germain on the green carpet.
