The Swiss tennis player Roger Federer has announced, via social networks, that he has had to operate again on the right knee and that he will not play this year, although he hopes to be able to start the season in 2021.
"A few weeks ago, after experiencing a recoil during my initial rehabilitation, I had to undergo an additional rapid arthroscopic procedure on my right knee," revealed Federer.
"I have to, as I did before the 2017 season, take the time to be 100% and play at my highest level. I will miss the fans and the circuit but I hope to see everyone back at the start of the 2021 season "he added.
A few weeks ago Federer himself acknowledged that his recovery was not going as well as could be expected and now this statement confirms it.
The Swiss seems to have more serious problems than previously thought in his right knee and this, at 39, could seriously jeopardize the continuation of his professional career.
