Al-Ahly announced that the leader of the first football team, Hossam Ashour, will not appear again in the Al-Ahmar jersey if the Football Association decides to resume the league championship, nor will he participate with the club in the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly decided not to extend Hossam Ashour’s contract, based on the vision of the Swiss coach, Feiler, who stressed that his efforts would not be needed next season.
Egyptian club officials persuaded the player to retire while granting him several privileges in appreciation of his years of giving to the team, by setting up a retirement match for him and working on the club's channel.
However, Al-Ahly quickly retracted its agreement with "Ashour", and at the recent board meeting he thanked the player for the years he spent inside the club walls.
Ashour paid the price a lot after he appeared in a video, in which he thanked the head of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, Turki Al-Sheikh, for the support he provided to him, since Al-Ahly announced that his contract would not be extended.
The player’s position was not favored by the club’s management because of its famous dispute with Turki Al-Sheikh, which caused him to withdraw the honorary presidency from him.
The media, Hani Hathout, said on the "Match" program, on Sada Al-Balad channel, that he had contacted Al-Ahly administration to reveal Hossam Ashour's position regarding the completion of the season with the team. Which is a decision by the player that he does not wish to continue with the team and the administration has respected his desire and therefore will not appear with Al-Ahly this season nor will he participate in the exercises that will resume in the middle of this month.
