On June 4, 1930, the Soviet hockey coach Viktor Tikhonov was born. As a player, he four times became the champion of the USSR, but outstanding success awaited him in the coaching field. In 1977, the specialist, after much doubt, led CSKA and the national team. Under his leadership, the army team won the domestic championship gold 12 times in a row, and the national team had practically no equal in the international arena (eight victories at the world championships and three at the Olympic Games).
